No Talking by Andrew Clements (2009)

The author of Lunch Money presents a story about a contest between fifth grade boys and girls to see which group can last longest without speaking. The middle-grade novel addresses some of the same issues brought up in Lunch Money about boys and girls’ struggles to get along with each other. It also looks at how new ideas get adopted quickly by kids, sometimes to the chagrin of their elders.

Frindle by Andrew Clements (1996)

The first novel by the author of Lunch Money, Frindle is also his most famous work, winning 35 awards. It tells of a class cut-up who invents a new word that catches on with the rest of the fifth grade and, soon, with the entire nation. Some business and financial ideas are discussed briefly.
